PEARL BOD Interview with Nick Milstead

What is your industry background?
I started as a circuit breaker technician with Shermco in 2010, and I have worked in various positions over the last 15 years in the electrical equipment reconditioning industry. Today I am a Regional Vice President overseeing operations at multiple locations for Group CBS. Through the years I have rebuilt countless pieces of equipment, taught multiple courses in substation technology, and managed teams in both the field and shop services.
Why is it important to serve on the PEARL Board of Directors?
PEARL is the standard for how to recondition electrical equipment. By being a member of the Board of Directors, you are given the voice to do what is best for our customers and our companies.
What value does PEARL bring to the industry?
The value of PEARL cannot be measured in dollars and cents. The value is measured in the number of incidents that don't occur and the culture at your organization. The Train, Test, Certify approach educates the technicians; the EERS gives customers piece of mind that the equipment is being held to an industry leading standard, and the networking that takes place at the conferences creates a family-like environment giving you the resources to help your customers and your team.
What do you like to do when you’re not immersed in electrical apparatus and equipment?
I love to spend time with the family! We love to spend the afternoon at the pool with the kids, go see the Texas Rangers win a baseball game, or cook a meal for everyone to enjoy together.
